Biography

An actress equally adept at comedy and drama, the comely and luxuriously dark-maned Lisa Zane has been a working actor since the late 80s, although actual stardom has proven somewhat elusive. She is best recalled as the big-hearted advocate lawyer Melinda Paros on the final season of NBC's "L.A. Law" (1992-1993), as Claire Ruth, wife of "Babe Ruth" in the 1991 NBC TV biography, and, more recently, as Diane Leeds, the rich girl bedding Dr. Ross (George Clooney) on early episodes of "ER" (NBC, 1994)

A product of Vassar and the Circle-in-the-Square theater in New York, Zane broke into TV in 1987 with an episode of "Ohara" (ABC). By 1992, she was a pill-popping affluent wife on the short-lived series "Middle Ages" (CBS). Other series work has included a turn as Joanne Metzer, the head of corporate security, out to get the goods on Adrian Pasdar's "Profit" (Fox, 1996) in that critically-lauded but short-lived drama. She returned to that network as the evil Queen Diana in the period fantasy "Roar" (1997). Additionally, Zane has lent her distinctive husky voice to the character of She-Hulk on the UPN animated series "The Incredible Hulk" (1996).

In 1989, Zane broke into feature films playing the sorority sister with the power to control the chapter meetings in "Heart of Dixie" and appearing alongside Matthew Modine in "Gross Anatomy." She starred opposite Rob Lowe and James Spader in "Bad Influence" (1990) and was a married woman with multiple personalities in "Femme Fatale" (1991), which also featured her younger brother Billy. Zane was the frustrated psychiatrist of "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" (1991) and was the gun moll of C Thomas Howell's titular "Baby Face Nelson" (1995).
