Biography

John Tench is a seasoned stage and screen actor whose versatility and depth of on-camera experience has led him to appear in over 100 films and television series. Tench, who is often cast as villains, has played everyone from Western outlaws to chain-mail-clad warriors, dog-faced aliens, drug dealers, and common thugs over the course of a career that has lasted over 25 years. He cultivated his signature goatee and ponytail after noticing how much the extra hair seemed to open up casting doors. Among his most memorable roles are the double-agent Winston on writer-producer Chris Haddock's Canadian crime series "Intelligence," from 2006 to 2007, and the pimp in the Soska Sisters's 2009 cult horror hit, "Dead Hooker in a Trunk." The actor's many appearances in the world of science fiction and fantasy include bit-parts on "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry's late-career series "Andromeda" and Chris Carter's paranormal hit, "The X-Files." In 2011, he appeared in "Last Chance Casting," a comedy that lampooned the plight of career character actors. Tench has been active in the Vancouver theater scene for many years and imparts his wisdom to developing thespians at the New Image College of Fine Arts, where he teaches directing and scene study.
