Biography
Film composer since 1955 who specialized in writing scores for A.I.P. hot-rod teen flicks ("Dragstrip Girl," "Reform School Girl" both 1957, "Hot Rod Gang" 1958) as well as Roger Corman thrillers ("Undead," "Not of This Earth" both 1957, "The Premature Burial" 1962, "The Terror 1963). After composing the score for Francis Ford Coppola's "Dementia 13" 1964 and "The Rain People" 1969, Stein wrote for his most commericial project "Getting Straight" 1970. He was also a TV documentary filmmaker and professor of music.
