Biography

Sarah Selby's acting talents were showcased on the big screen many times throughout the course of her Hollywood career. Selby started her acting career landing roles in films, such as "A Double Life" (1947), "Trapped By Boston Blackie" (1948) and the Bette Davis drama "Beyond the Forest" (1949). She also appeared in the Humphrey Bogart drama "Battle Circus" (1953) and "Men of the Fighting Lady" (1954) with Van Johnson. She worked in series television while getting her start in acting, including a part on "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show" (CBS, 1950-58). She continued to act in productions like the Van Heflin adaptation "Battle Cry" (1955), "The McConnell Story" (1955) with Alan Ladd and the Jennifer Jones dramatic adaptation "Good Morning, Miss Dove" (1955). She also appeared in the romance "An Affair to Remember" (1957) with Cary Grant. She also was featured in the TV movie "Huckleberry Finn" (ABC, 1974). She also worked in television during these years, including roles in "The Rifleman" (ABC, 1958-1963) and "My Three Sons" (CBS, 1960-1972). Selby last appeared in "Friendships, Secrets, and Lies" (NBC, 1979-1980). Selby passed away in January 1980 at the age of 75.
