Biography

Johnny Sekka's acting talents were showcased on the big screen many times throughout the course of his Hollywood career. Sekka began his acting career with roles in such films as the dramatic adaptation "The Wild and the Willing" (1964) with Virginia Maskell, the Gina Lollobrigida drama "Woman of Straw" (1964) and the Kaz Garas dramatic adaptation "The Last Safari" (1967). He also appeared in "A Warm December" (1972) and the Sidney Poitier comedy "Uptown Saturday Night" (1974). His film career continued throughout the seventies in productions like "Visit to a Chief's Son" (1974), "Mohammad Messenger of God" (1976) with Anthony Quinn and the adventure "Ashanti" (1979) with Michael Caine. He also landed a role in the miniseries "Roots: The Next Generations" (1978-79). He also appeared in the TV special "The African Queen" (CBS, 1976-77). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the mystery "Charlie Chan and the Curse of the Dragon Queen" (1981) with Peter Ustinov, "Hanky Panky" (1982) and the drama "Fever Pitch" (1985) with Ryan O'Neal. He also had parts in the miniseries "Master of the Game" (1983-84) and "Passion and Paradise" (1988-89). Sekka more recently appeared in "Babylon 5: The Gathering" (1992). Sekka passed away in September 2006 at the age of 67.
