Biography
First gained attention as the young student smitten by an older woman (Micheline Presle) in Claude Autant-Lara's "Devil in the Flesh" (1947) and went on to become one of France's most charming and popular romantic leads of the late 1940s and 50s. Philipe's career was foreshortened by a heart attack at the age of 36.
