Actor Roger Perry got his start in 1957 with a bit part on the popular television show "Whirlybirds" from Desilu Productions, about a group of California helicopter pilots always buzzing for adventure. He went on to star in another Desilu show in 1960, "Harrigan and Son," where he played the younger half of a father/son law firm. The show only lasted 34 episodes, but it would lead to steady, prominent work, specifically a full-time role on the crime drama "Arrest and Trial," a sort of quasi-1960s version of "Law and Order." He landed many guest spots on television shows as well, his most well-known being his 1967 role on cult television sci-fi show "Star Trek" (episode "Tomorrow Is Yesterday"), playing an Air Force pilot beamed aboard the Enterprise after he tries to intercept the spacecraft when it breaches United States air space. In 1970, Perry starred in the low-budget horror film "Count Yorga, Vampire," as a doctor who goes up against a vampire in modern-day Los Angeles. He starred in the sequel, "The Return of Count Yorga," as well. He worked throughout the 1970s and 1980s, much of it in cop shows, but he also had two recurring stints on the popular sitcom "The Facts of Life," as a headmaster of the school, and on the primetime Napa Valley-set soap "Falcon Crest." Roger Perry died of prostate cancer on July 12, 2018. He was 85.
