Graduated with a BFA in sculpture from the Corcoran College of Art+Design

1983

Landed a job in the admissions office at Parsons The New School of Design in NYC; worked his way up to Associate Dean; over the next 17 years, helped develop new academic programs and launch Parsons affiliates overseas

2000

Appointed Chair of the Fashion Design Department at Parsons

2004

Cast as the fashion mentor on the reality competition series "Project Runway" (Bravo, Lifetime), popularized the catch phrases "Make it work" and "Carry on!"

2006

Co-wrote and co-directed the film "An Apology to the Dead" with Jon Worful

2007

Named Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne

Co-wrote the book A Guide to Quality, Taste, and Style with Kate Moloney
