He kept working in film throughout the seventies and the early 2000s, starring in "La Spirale" (1975), "Camera d'Afrique: Twenty Years of African Cinema" (1983) and "Ouaga" (1988). He also appeared in the Ana Padrão historical romance "1871" (1991) and the comedic drama "Antilles-sur-Seine" (2000) with Chantal Lauby. Hondo most recently worked on "Asterix and the Vikings" (2006).
