Synopsis

Yuichi Tanuma, a sales engineer living in Sydney, Australia, is too busy to escort Ishiyama, his schoolmate visiting from Japan, so he asks Elizabeth, an Australian saleswoman, to show him around. Ishiyama falls in love with Elizabeth, but she is in love with Yuichi. The young salesman is transferred to Japan, where he is reunited with his grandmother, Riki; his father, Kyutaro; his sister, Teruko; and Enguchi, Teruko's husband. Kyutaro opens a restaurant, but he neglects his business for Saeko, the proprietress of a nearby boutique. Yuichi meets Setsuko, who works for a firm promoting industry in New Zealand, and he falls deeply in love with her. Elizabeth suddenly appears in Japan, and Setsuko stops seeing Yuichi, thinking Elizabeth is his Australian sweetheart. Yuichi helps his father obtain the family's approval of marriage to Saeko, but she spurns Kyutaro's proposal. Yuichi goes to Auckland to organize a parade of new cars, and Setsuko joins him reluctantly, because they have not made up. After the parade, however, the two meet on Mt. Cook and pledge their love for each other.
