Synopsis
When Yambao, a notorious witch's granddaughter, appears on Jorge's Cuban sugar plantation during an outbreak of plague, the slaves blame her for the pestilence and plan to burn her alive. Jorge, however, forbids it, causing the grateful and enamored Yambao to cast a spell binding them together. Refusing to leave the plantation despite her pregnancy, Jorge's wife, Beatriz, contracts the fever. Upon the birth of his son, Jorge begs forgiveness of Beatriz. Her jealousy aroused, the witch vows to kill both wife and son but, relenting, sacrifices herself to the new moon.
