Synopsis

Jack and his pal Lopez ride the Wild Horse Trail in search of the rustlers who murdered Jack's brother. While riding from one ranch to another, Jack visits a ranch owned by Jean Hall and her father Tom. Unknown to Jean and Tom, their ranch foreman Travers is stealing their horses with the help of Mr. Hall's son Pete. After Jack saves Jean from one of the rustlers, Tom hires Jack and Lopez as ranch hands. When Rosco, one of the rustlers, offers to buy 400 horses from Tom, Jack becomes suspicious because his brother was killed just after selling his horses so that the purchasers could reclaim their money. Consequently, Jack decides to mark the bills with which Rosco purchases the herd. When Tom is shot and robbed on his way to town after collecting his money, Jack traces the marked money to Pete and Travers and accuses them of rustling. In response, the rustlers take Jack captive in a mountain cabin, but with the help of his faithful horse, Rusty, who unties him, Jack escapes. When Jack confronts the rustlers in town, Travers orders Pete to shoot him in cold blood, and when Pete hesitates, Travers kills Pete. Meanwhile, Lopez asks for help from his brother, the governor of Sonoma, and when Lopez and Jack identify Travers and his gang as the ones who killed Jack's brother, the gang is arrested. With his brother's killer brought to justice, Jack decides to stay and help Jean run the ranch.
