Synopsis

Motion picture producer Roger Morgan is in love with Ruth Evans, the leading lady of his current film, whom he has selected to star over his former lover, Fifi La Rue. Although he is a renowned lady's man, Roger earnestly wants to marry Ruth; however, Ruth's mother Jean objects because Roger earlier caused the ruin of her marriage. When Roger insists on marrying Ruth, Jean threatens him, and director Val Lewis, who is in love with Ruth, warns him. Many other people also owe their declines to Morgan. An electrician working on the film tries to kill Morgan with a sun-arc because Morgan ruined his sister. When the electrician is fired, he threatens revenge. Morgan is surprised when the author of the story, Stephen McBain, is revealed to be Ruth's father, whom Morgan had left for dead in Africa years earlier. He, too, thinks of revenge. When the cast and crew go on location on a steamship, Morgan is murdered, and everyone involved in the film is a suspect until the murderer, Ruth's mother Jean, confesses and then commits suicide.
