Untamed Women

In a United States Army medical center in Ohio, Steve, an Air Force captain, revives from a coma and tells a fantastic story about what he has experienced. Col. Loring, who has asked anthropologist Prof. Warren to judge the veracity of the tale, injects Steve with a truth serum. The captain once again recounts his adventure: Steve pilots a bomber plane with his crew, bombardier Benny, navigator Andy and radio operator Ed. When the plane is hit by enemy fire, the co-pilot is killed and the men prepare for a crash landing in the ocean. All four safely evacuate into a lifeboat, which then drifts for eight days. Finally, they reach an island, but as soon as the exhausted crew drops to the ground to sleep, they are surrounded by beautiful Amazon women in loincloths. The women, who carry spears, force them into a cave, where the men discuss their hopes that they can become friends with the strange race of females. Soon, they are brought before the tribe's high priestess, Sandra, who explains that the women are descendants of the British Druids, and that four years before a tribe of "hairy men" killed all the Druid males. Sandra fears that the fliers, who now have beards, are also warriors, and orders them killed. When the other women protest that they need men in order to procreate, Sandra agrees to a trial. At the trial Steve attempts to explain their war mission, and Sandra, now convinced that they are killers, condemns them. Hours later, however, she secretly leads them from their cave prison to a path, which she tells them leads over the valley to safety. They eagerly trek into the valley, only to find giant prehistoric animals roaming the land. After being chased by a twenty-foot bison, the men finally rest. Ed recounts how his controlling mother forced him to enlist, then walks into the jungle angrily. Within moments, he is attacked by a flesh-eating plant, and the others race to his rescue. Realizing that their chances for survival are higher with the women, the men start back, but are chased up a mountainside by a huge armadillo. They are saved when a group of the women create an avalanche to kill the armadillo. Tribe members Myra, Valdra, Tennus and Cleo then inform them that Sandra lied that the men overcame her and ran away, but that the tribe has since declared a state of peace. When Sandra sees that the men have returned, she allows them to stay on the condition that they refrain from talking to the women. The next day, however, Myra, Valdra, Tennus and Cleo sneak over to pair up with the men. Sandra catches Steve and Myra kissing, but before she can mete out punishment, a band of prehistoric men with heavy facial hair attack. Sandra, upon witnessing Steve and his men fire their guns and frighten the attackers away, thanks them for their "magic thunder" and cedes control of the tribe to Steve. Steve insists that she take her tribe to their temple in case of a second attack, but just as she leaves, she is killed by the warriors. Before she dies, she gives Steve the tribe leader medallion. A battle quickly erupts in which Ed is killed. Aware that they are almost out of bullets, Steve heads for the temple. Although he urges Andy and Benny to return to the boat, they refuse. They reach the temple mountain, which is actually a volcano, and it erupts as they approach it. Everyone is killed except Steve, who makes it to the raft just before the island is engulfed in lava. Back in the Army hospital, Prof. Warren becomes convinced of the tale when he sees the medallion, which he identifies as being crafted from an authentic Druid metal alloy.
