Synopsis
In the prolog "Twist Craze," an emcee introduces the twist into a fashionable nightclub. Tobin Mathews and the All Stars play twist songs, and the clientele, clapping to the beat, soon learn the new dance. In the main body of the film, Louis Evans and Sam Butera and The Witnesses are unable to pay the rent for their nightclub because a group of teenagers fill the place every night without spending money. Evans and his girl friend, Jenny, find out that the youngsters have been hired by Mr. Arturo, the art gallery owner who lives upstairs, to force the club out of business. Evans intends to confront Mr. Arturo calmly, but he becomes angry and hits him. Fearful of losing his license, Evans returns to apologize. He is knocked out and arrested for breaking and entering. His innocence is proven, however, with the help of Jenny and Sam. He remembers seeing a stolen painting being covered before he was knocked unconscious and realizes that Mr. Arturo and his assistants are art thieves. The police are notified and the thieves are arrested. Evans throws a big twist block party that is so successful that the nightclub becomes a booming twist club.
