Synopsis
Middle-aged bachelor George Weissborn is a Munich wine salesman whose promiscuity worries and embarrasses his family, especially his staid brother Alfred, an elementary school teacher whose chances for promotion depend on George's settling down. While he is in the hospital recuperating from overexertion, George finally consents to marry, and to his family's delight he returns from the hospital with his nurse and announces their engagement. But the family's pleasure is short-lived, because the next night George brings home a different fiancée. Several more fiancées later, George and his cousin Irene, a houseguest invited by the family in the vague hope that George and she would fall in love and marry, do fulfill the family's wish. After the wedding George slides down the banister to celebrate, injures himself, and thereby puts an end to his sexual rovings.
