Synopsis

Bettina Moore, the owner of the Blue Moon nightclub, forbids her daughter Sally to hold a party there because she wants Sally to associate with a more respectable crowd. For years, Bettina has kept the identity of Sally's father, gangster Jim Moore, a secret from everyone, including Capt. William Baxter, who wants to marry her. After they quarrel, Sally asks her mother's chauffeur, Jud Shafer, to drive her to a restaurant where she can dine alone. Sally sits in the front seat of the car and Jud tries to put his arm around her. Although Sally protests, he continues his attentions. Jerry Coleman and his butler, Ferguson, who are passing by the car, see Sally struggling and come to her aid. Mistaking Jerry for a chauffeur, Sally suggests that he take over Jud's job and, because he finds Sally attractive, he agrees. While waiting to talk to Bettina, Jerry overhears bank robber Joe Farley tell her that Jim is alive and that the gang intends to hide out in Bettina's house. Jerry joins forces with Tiger Callahan, the nightclub manager, to help Bettina. When the men learn the planned arrival time of the gang, they inform the police that a robbery is in progress. The plan backfires, however, when Farley kidnaps Jerry at gunpoint. He forces Jerry to drive the gang to Bettina's house. The next day, the police, accompanied by Baxter, arrive at Bettina's, having seen the gangsters leave the club in her car. They arrest Jerry, but he escapes later. During a quarrel over Sally, Jim and Farley kill each other. Sally meets Jerry at the church and they are married with two policemen as witnesses. In the meantime, Bettina has told Baxter everything and they too plan to marry.

Notes

The film was re-released by United Pictures in 1936 under the title Underworld Terror. The synopsis was taken from the script included in copyright records, but an explicit note on the first page stated that some scenes were slightly changed during the editing stage of film production.
