Synopsis
A team of scientists on a university campus construct a time portal in order to view the past and the future. The scientists, headed by Dr. Erik von Steiner and including Steve Connors and Carol White, accidentally create an opening in the window portal through which they see the campus 107 years into the future. An electrician, Danny McKee, stumbles through the opening, followed by the scientists attempting to rescue him, and the portal collapses, trapping the group in a desolate countryside. Mutant creatures chase them into a cave, where they are rescued by human robots called androids. Gadra, the android leader, takes them to Council Senior Varno who explains that during the past 107 years the earth and all life forms have been dying as a result of a nuclear war. Human beings have evolved into grotesque mutations, and the land has become dry and barren. Varno tells Dr. von Steiner that the few survivors and their descendants have developed an extremely advanced technology in an underground civilization in order to construct a spaceship that will carry them to a new planet. The visitors from the past work frantically to reconstruct their time portal before the spaceship leaves, but the attacking mutants destroy the ship. Fleeing through the repaired portal into the past, the scientists and a few other survivors, including Varno, destroy the portal behind them only to discover that they have gone too far back and are frozen in time. Steve Connors opens the portal which is set for the extreme future, and they enter into a new-born earth, trapped in an endless time circle.

Trivia
Producer Ray Dorn "borrowed" much of this movie for his own movie Journey to the Center of Time (1967). 'Irwin Allen' also borrowed much of the concept for his TV series "Time Tunnel, The" (1966). Director Ib Melchior declined to make waves so that he would continue getting work in Hollywood.
Notes
The working title of this film is Time Trap.
