Synopsis

American Billy Poole, a professional killer, is hired by a nationalist group to assassinate exiled South American dictator Antonio Perez, who lives on a heavily guarded island in the Caribbean. Billy and his contact, Anita Chavez, force former advertising man Vincent Dodge, who regularly sails supplies to Perez, to transport Billy to the island by holding Vincent's wife, Helen, as hostage. Once on the island, Billy can only wound Perez before escaping, with both the dictator's guards and Vincent in pursuit. Billy later murders Anita in the belief that she has betrayed him but is himself killed by Vincent. Helen, free from her captors, rejoins her husband.
