Synopsis

Macheath, chief of the London bandits, marries Polly Peachum, daughter of the beggar king. Enraged, Mr. and Mrs. Peachum arrange to have the thief arrested by his reluctant friend, police inspector Tiger Brown. Accordingly, the couple persuades Macheath's former mistress, the whore Pirate Jenny, to betray him. Although sentenced to die, Macheath is pardoned by the queen on her coronation day.
