Synopsis

Angus Mactavish, who supports his careworn wife and 10 children on the small profits from a wornout old taxi, is doing his best to earn $100 for the down payment on a new vehicle. Berger and Mason, two crooks, hire Angus' cab and have it wait outside the Addison mansion while they blow the safe. Officer Dan Regan surprises the men at work, and they make a run for it, using Angus' taxi for their getaway. Regan pursues them in another taxi, and the men, hiding a pearl necklace in the upholstery of Angus's vehicle, flee on foot. Angus' daughter meets up with Mason and learns the whereabouts of the pearls; the necklace is recovered, and Angus receives a $5,000 reward with which he buys a new taxi.
