Synopsis

The Colonel, a former soldier with a lust for power, plans to use his private army to gain control over all the African jungle tribes. First he captures one of the tribal chiefs and holds him hostage; Jai, Tarzan's young friend, is also captured, and Tarzan is forced to fight a lion, finally subduing the beast by using mental telepathy to save the boy. Meanwhile, Metusa, the son of the hostage chief, learns that his father is dead and takes the Colonel prisoner, but Chico and Marshak, two of the Colonel's cronies, free him and set out in search of Tarzan. When they close in on him, Tarzan dives into a river, and Chico and Marshak throw hand grenades into the river. Tarzan is deafened by the blasts but escapes alive. Jai is again taken captive, and Tarzan goes after him. After Chico drowns in a pit of quicksand, the Colonel and Marshak try to overpower Tarzan, but Tarzan hurls the Colonel to the ground and his head strikes a rock, killing him; Marshak takes advantage of the momentary lull in the fighting to escape.
