Synopsis
CIA agent Donovan, in England trying to discover the identity of a double agent, is unaware that his contact Schoener has been murdered. Donovan is kidnaped by a Russian organization headed by Shevik but is rescued by Peter Langley, who is impersonating a Dr. Lundgren. Langley takes Donovan to his headquarters, and there Col. Victor Redmayne informs Donovan that he is being returned to the United States because his activities embarrass the British Secret Service. Actually Redmayne intends to send a substitute, but his plan is foiled by Pannell, one of Shevik's men. Donovan receives instructions from Goldsmith, the CIA agent stationed in London, to meet Langley's wife, Anne, and their child, Michael. The Langley marriage is failing, and Anne becomes attracted to Donovan, unaware that he is investigating her husband. When Michael is kidnaped by Shevik's men, Anne discovers Donovan's connection with the CIA; and when Langley disappears, she agrees to help Donovan, believing that Langley will lead them to her son. Donovan discovers that Langley is preparing to flee the country with Shevik, taking Michael with him, but he averts the flight and rescues Michael.
