Synopsis
In New Orleans, former military combat engineers Brett Marshall and Matt Flood start a business together, hoping to find adventure. Soon, Carmen Flores and her brother Jesse offer the partners $1,000 to find a buried chest that supposedly contains the treasure of pirate Jean Lafitte. Unknown to Brett and Matt, Carmen and Jesse are actually narcotics hijackers who have sunken their loot and need the two men to help recover it. Armed with only a map, the four set off to the underwater site, led by boatman Duffy Tyler. As soon as Brett and Matt surface with the "treasure," three ruffians overcome them and steal the chest, abducting Jesse and killing Carmen in the process. Duffy helps Brett and Matt return to New Orleans, where they report the attack to the police. The police initially suspect the pair but, with no evidence against them, release them. Upon investigating the ruffians, Matt meets French Quarter nightclub singer Danielle Dubois, who is secretly involved in the narcotics smuggling ring. When she asks him to retrieve a box containing "musical instruments," Matt consents, and is soon wanted by the police again. Meanwhile, Brett has tracked down the leader of the smuggling ring, Miles Barton, and confronts him during a party aboard Barton's yacht. Barton pulls out a gun and forces Brett to accompany him to the docks, where Matt has followed Brett. The two are in mortal danger when the police arrive and kill Barton while attempting his arrest. With the help of the police, Brett and Matt trap Danielle, who is now working with Jesse, and uncover the chest of narcotics. After Danielle and Jesse are arrested, Brett and Matt decide to take a vacation from their new job.
