Synopsis

Ellen Winslow, in an attempt to get out of debt and help her unemployed husband, Gerald, finds a job for herself working for Cliff Kane. Instead of being pleased, Gerald flies into a jealous, sadistic rage and leaves her. Ellen finds Gerald in his Texas hometown, and there she is subjected to more abuse from him and then assaulted by his best friend, Harvey Suggett. She returns home to work and falls in love with Kane, but even after Gerald divorces her she cannot totally discard the emotional ties to her ex-husband. However, when she learns from a friend that Gerald secretly witnessed her run-in with Suggett and had done nothing about it, Ellen is freed of her guilt feelings and joins Kane in Mexico, where he has accepted a new job.
