Synopsis

In a rare moment of inspiration Stanley Farquhar, a bumbling British Intelligence man, conceives the idea of bugging a dog with a tiny microphone-transmitter and then presenting the animal to the Russian prime minister. Dr. Francis Trevellyan, a playboy veterinarian, is coerced into implanting the delicate instrument just underneath the skin of Disraeli, an English bulldog. The prime minister delightedly accepts the gift and takes his new pet everywhere. The plan is an enormous success, and British Intelligence is alerted to every Communist move and strategy, but complications develop when the dog develops a respiratory ailment. Terrified that a Russian veterinarian may detect the hidden transmitter, Farquhar and Francis fly to Moscow and enlist the aid of Natasha Romanova, a mercenary Russian princess whose political affiliation vacilates between the East and West. Natasha has already been assigned to the case by the Russians, but she is bribed by the British and helps them lure Disraeli away from the prime minister with a female dog. Although the deception works and Francis is able to extract the transmitter from the dog, Farquhar is knocked over by a truck and taken to a Russian hospital. He quickly recovers and triumphantly returns to England--unaware that the Russians planted a bug in his stomach during his stay in the Moscow hospital.
