Synopsis

Texas Dan, a Robin Hood-like outlaw, is hunted by both the law and the outlaws. When Tex decides to go straight, members of his own gang, led by Max Groat, decide to double-cross him by holding up a stage and leaving a wounded Tex at the scene of the holdup. Found by his faithful sidekick, Cashaway, Tex decides to bury Texas Dan for good, and assumes the identity of Alden, one of the victims murdered in the holdup. Taking Alden's orphaned daughter Mary to rear as his own, Tex moves to a small frontier town, where he becomes a respected citizen and a bank official, his true story known only to Cashaway. Tex is engaged to Evelyn and has just been elected mayor of the town when Max and his old gang reappear and demand that Tex help them rob his own bank or they will expose his true identity. In a wild shootout, Cashaway is killed, but Max and the gang also perish, and with them, Tex's secret. All ends happily as Sheriff Wade reads the obituary notice of a bad man by the name of Texas Dan, and Tex returns to his peaceful life as father, mayor and husband-to-be.
