Synopsis

In order to save Enoch Bronson, the father of the woman he loves, from financial ruin, bank cashier Jim Ralston forges a check in the name of Baron Hartfeld, who, on discovering the fraud, promises Jim immunity in return for aiding his gang of swindlers. Jim's love for Nina provokes forged letters breaking off her match with Percival and permits his marriage and subsequent rise to wealth. In a scheme to ruin Percival, Jim is exposed and accused by his wife. In remorse, he traps the baron and the gang in a yacht, sinks the boat, and dies with them.
