Synopsis
The owner of the Butler estate in a small New England town is desperate to sell the long-abandoned mansion. His lawyer comes out from New York to negotiate its sale to the town council. But in the meantime, a maniac from the nearby mental asylum has escaped and gone to the mansion seeking revenge for a crime that occurred there 35 years before. The crazed man calls prominent citizens of the town, telling them that Marianne has come back and that they should come to the Butler house. When they arrive, he kills them. A man claiming to be Jeremy Butler, the owner of the mansion, then arrives in town to investigate the disappearance of his lawyer. When he visits the mayor's daughter, the two of them delve into the mystery of the Butler house and uncover many ugly secrets.
