Synopsis

Peter heads a gang of militant Russian exiles living in London who have terrorized the city with robbery and murder in order to acquire funds needed for their anarchist ends. Sara, a young orphaned Russian refugee, meets Peter in the club where she sings and is drawn to him. When she learns that Peter, along with members of his gang including Yoska, Svaars, and Dmitrieff, participated in a bank robbery in which a man was murdered, she is horrified, but Peter justifies his crimes as fighting oppression. Meanwhile, Inspector Mannering, posing as a wanted man frequenting the East End dives, finally tracks down the gang. During this time he gets to know and understand Sara and the reasons for her complicity. However, further acts of crime and butchery by the gang arouse the entire nation and the anarchists flee to a hideout at 100 Sidney Street. On January 3, 1911, the police surround the neighborhood and close in for the siege.
