Synopsis
Condemned murderer Roger Sartet escapes from prison and locates Vittorio Manalese, a Sicilian gangster who gives the convict refuge. Sartet, a Corsican, tells Manalese of a foolproof plan to rob a fortune in jewels from a Venice exhibition. Manalese, hoping to retire after this last robbery, submits the plan to Tony Nicosia, an American gangster who suggests that they hijack the plane that is transporting the jewels from Venice to New York. Manalese's entire family takes part in the robbery, which comes off without a flaw, and they all return to Europe to hide until the loot is divided. However, Manalese learns that Sartet has been making love to his daughter-in-law, Jeanne, and he withholds Sartet's share of the money to lure him back to Paris. Sartet arrives in Paris earlier than expected and witnesses the arrest of Manalese's sons, who were sent to kill him. To avenge the shame brought on the family, Manalese kills both Sartet and Jeanne. He then returns home to find Inspector Le Goff of the Paris police waiting for him.
