Synopsis

While still a schoolboy, Roy Rogers sees his father murdered and his younger brother Tim kidnapped by Ed Tasker, the leader of a band of desperadoes operating in Death Valley. Fifteen years later, Roy returns to the valley as Roy Reynolds, the new owner of the Circle R ranch, to avenge his father's murder. Roy learns from Gabby, the ranch foreman, and his neighbors, the Merediths, that Tasker now controls the town, the sheriff and the water rights, and has been extorting protection money from the ranchers. Unknown to Roy, Tim has been brought up by Tasker as his nephew Jerry and is now a lieutenant in the outlaw's army. Soon after Roy's arrival, Tasker demands protection money, and Roy pretends to comply with his demands while secretly organizing Gabby and the men into a band of riders to oppose Tasker's rule. In retaliation, Tasker intensifies the raids and orders Tim to attack the Meredith ranch. After Tim kills Meredith, Roy and his men arrive to drive the outlaws away, and in the ensuing struggle, Roy recognizes Tim. Realizing that Roy must be the leader of the rebels, Tasker plans to blow up the local dam and kill him, but Roy overhears the plot and rides to save the dam. Confronted by Roy's men, Tasker and Tim retreat, and Roy follows. When faced with Roy's guns, Tasker reveals that Tim is the cowboy's brother. As Tasker tries to escape, he and Tim exchange bullets, and Tim dies in his brother's arms.
