Synopsis
In Montana, Tim "Rusty" Burke aids the Martin family after receiving a letter from Molly Martin explaining that her brother Tom has been kidnapped. The Martins suspect sheep rancher Bart Quillan, who aims to control the entire valley, of the kidnapping. Tim is held-up by Quillan's daughter, Mona, a reputed "wildcat" who does not agree with her father's policies. When Tim's dog, Silver King, comes to his defense, Mona is knocked into Tim's arms just as her boyfriend, dangerous outlaw Poe Powers, rides up. After the situation is explained, Poe befriends Tim and promises to help the Martins. Tim searches the Quillan ranch for Tom and is taken captive. While being held hostage, he learns that Quillan intends to kill Poe and make a final raid on the Martin ranch in order to drive them out. Tim warns Mona of her father's treachery, and she in turn warns the Martins. Silver King releases Tim by chewing through his ropes, and Tim joins up with Poe to defend the Martins, who are engaged in a gunfight against Quillan's gang. Quillan attempts to escape but is stopped by Silver King, who forces the rancher to leap to his death off a high cliff. The range war ends with Quillan's death, and Poe and Mona head for the Quillan ranch to release Tom, while Tim plans to stay on at the Martin ranch.
