Brief Synopsis

Rogues Jelly Knight, Scapa Flood, and Lennie the Dip leave prison expecting boss The Duke to have their stash ready to share out. Instead, Duke's girl Sara gives them the news Duke is dead and the money gone on nursing care. They soon discover that Duke is actually running Hope Springs Nature Clinic with the help of most of the local villains. Very strange - and the nearby army camp and Sara's encouragement of Lieutenant Vine would seem to be no coincidence either.

Synopsis

Upon their release from prison, dull-witted robbers Lenny, Jelly, and Scapa seek out their ringleader, The Duke, who has safeguarded the proceeds of their crime. They are met by Sara, The Duke's wealthy girl friend, who informs them that he is dead and that the money from the robbery has been spent on hospital bills. Without The Duke, who served as the brains of the group, the three crooks must resort to picking pockets. They learn by chance, however, that The Duke is actually alive and running a health clinic while planning to rob an enormous army payroll. The Duke agrees to let his old partners in on the plan, which already involves a number of London's petty criminals, but complications soon arise, including the scheduled arrival of a N.A.T.O. general on the train carrying the payroll. Meanwhile, Sara, who is assigned to extract information from the payroll guard, Lieutenant Vine, is being followed by a detective engaged by her father, who is worried about the company she keeps. The detective, Hunt, tips off the police, who board the train carrying the payroll and arrest most of the gangsters. The three ex-convicts escape with Sara and The Duke and follow the payroll to the bank. Tricked into believing that he is protecting the money, Lieutenant Vine borrows a tank for the robbers to smash through the wall of the bank, but the tank crashes through the floor. Narrowly escaping capture, Sara is taken home by her father, and The Duke is reduced to picking pockets.
