Synopsis

Cliff Houston receives a letter indicating that his friend, Bart Andrews, is in trouble. In Crescent City, the ruthless Ed Barker wants the Andrews ranch for its water. Barker scares potential buyers away and prevents Bart from taking his cattle to market. After Bart's sister Jean prevents a shootout in town, Barker shoots Bart. Slim, Joe and the other ranchhands decide that it is too dangerous to work at the Andrews ranch and they leave. Only the foreman, Hank, stays to assist Jean. Cliff arrives two weeks later and defends Jean from Barker and his men. Within days, Barker's men try to rustle the Andrews cattle, and Barker shoots and wounds Cliff. Cliff's five singing friends arrive at his request, and one of them, Bob Stevens, pretends to join Barker. Cliff tells Barker that he intends to sell Jean's cattle and steal the profits. Barker agrees to loan Cliff some of his cowpokes to assist with the drive. Bob tells Barker that Cliff has done this before, and demands that he have the first chance to kill him. On the last evening, Cliff meets Bob, and learns that Barker intends to give him a bad check to pay for the cattle. The next day Cliff demands cash from Barker, which Jean deposits immediately. Barker, whose suspicions of Bob are roused after one of his men sees him with Cliff, insists that Cliff shoot Bob. Cliff refuses and thereby reveals their friendship. Barker takes Cliff and Bob prisoner. Barker tells Jean that he holds the men hostage and she signs the land over to him to free them. Meanwhile, Bob and Cliff escape Barker's henchman and Cliff pursues Barker on horseback, finally beating him in a fistfight. With the Barker gang brought to justice, Cliff and Jean decide to marry.
