Synopsis

Claire, a young woman from a small town who is ignored by her busy parents, gets in a serious argument with her father on her birthday when she goes to a roadhouse with a man and is present when a fight breaks out. In retaliation, Claire decides to go to New York with her friend Babe and the two share an apartment. They both get jobs at a fashionable dress shop owned by Joe Gilman, who is using the dress shop as a front for a blackmail business wherein he takes compromising photographs of wealthy women in the dressing rooms, then doctors the pictures to make them look as if the women were involved in liaisons. Soon Claire and Babe meet Jimmie, a young reporter who is investigating Gilman, and Claire and Babe help him to trap Gilman. When Gilman discovers that Babe is working against him, he kills her. Claire is also in danger but is rescued by Jimmie, her father and the police just in time.
