Synopsis
Joe Salkow, a naturalized citizen, enters the United States Army and is sent to Vietnam as a demolition expert. There Joe becomes separated from his unit and witnesses the brutal rape and murder of a young Vietnamese woman by two Vietcong. Joe is found in a dazed condition and sent back to the States for rehabilitation. Six months later he is presumed to be cured and released from the Army hospital, but the memory of the outrage he witnessed has produced a compulsion to destroy anyone he finds engaging in sex. Joe comes upon a young couple making love in a car, and he quietly sets a charge of dynamite nearby. He watches the completion of their lovemaking and explodes the charge, killing them both. Joe satisfies his voyeuristic cravings as he carries out a series of rapes and dynamite murders. On one occasion he becomes upset by the discovery of two lesbians making love, but he does not harm them. Soon, running low on money and dynamite, Joe is forced to become simply a voyeur. He saves his last charge of dynamite for his landlady, whom he kills on the day of his eviction. Joe now perceives that a private detective is following him. Joe bides his time until he feels that he is safe, and then he rapes and murders the detective's wife. The detective arrives home to find Joe leaving his house. He apprehends Joe and kills him when he attempts to escape.
