Synopsis

Government engraver Joseph Rand is being held hostage in an abandoned house and forced to make plates for counterfeit money by a gang of outlaws. Government agents Art Davis, Lee Powell, Bill Boyd and their helper, "Snowflake," pose as horse auctioneers and are arrested in King City for picking a fight with Mallory Dude Ranch ranch hands. Art later notices that the money he got from Mallory's foreman as payment for a horse bears Rand's initials, and they suspect that Mallory is involved in the counterfeit ring. Lee works undercover by posing as a guest at the dude ranch and spends a lot of cash, which Mallory suspects is counterfeit. When Lee tries to strike a deal with Mallory to exchange his twenty dollar bills for counterfeit money, Mallory feigns ignorance of the counterfeit operation, but leaves immediately for the gang's hideout. Bill and Art follow Mallory and see his thugs murder a settler who recently had bought the house. Mallory finds Bill and Art near the settler's body and arrests them for the murder, after which he gets Rand to verify Lee's counterfeit bills. The judge and sheriff are working secretly with Art, Bill and Lee, and allow Art and Bill to escape from jail so that they can continue their investigation. After Mallory agrees to buy Lee's supposed counterfeit bills, the sheriff, Lee, Art and Bill chase after two dude ranch patrons and find that their winnings are counterfeit. A special code on the bills reveals Rand's hostage situation. While Lee goes back to the dude ranch, Art and Bill investigate the abandoned house. Lee is captured at the dude ranch, but hostess Lola Andre releases him and reveals that she is Rand's daughter and is trying to find her father. While Lola gathers a posse, Lee goes to help his friends who, having found the secret chamber in which Rand is being held, are fighting with Mallory's thugs. After the posse arrives to arrest the outlaws, Lola is reunited with her father, and Lee, Art, Bill and Snowflake leave as they came, as horse auctioneers.
