Brief Synopsis

Investigating the rising tide of banditry and rustling in Medicine Hat, U.S. Marshal Bob Randall (Bob Baker) arrives under an assumed name. He meets Anita Benson (Dorothy Fay) who tells him she has come west to save her ranch but her uncle, John Benson (Jack Rockwell), tells her all of her cattle have been stolen. When his father, Sheriff Pope Randall (Forrest Taylor) is killed, Bob sets out to avenge his murder and to help Anita save her ranch.

Synopsis

Working undercover, U. S. Marshal Bob Randall robs a stagecoach. After burying the gold, he heads for town, accompanied by his dog, "Smokey." Meanwhile, a gang of bandits holds up the same stagecoach, only to find the strong box already taken. In town, Bob meets Anita Benson, who is waiting to take the next stagecoach. When a noise scares the horses, Bob rides after the coach to rescue Anita. He decides to accompany her to the next town, where they are met by Anita's uncle, John Benson, and Sheriff Randall, Bob's father. Randall pretends not to know Bob, in order not to expose his real identity. Bob meets his father and Alfalfa outside of town and tells him where he has hidden the stagecoach strong box. The bandits see Randall recover the money and kill him. Bob discovers that Benson is behind the bandits, and sets a trap to capture him and his men. Benson is captured, and while he explains his actions to Bob, Dry Gultch, one of his men, kills him. With, the gang arrested, Alfalfa is made sheriff, and Bob and Anita agree to marry.
