Synopsis
Yusuf, a young goldsmith in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul, is going through a difficult time as his wife Asli is in the hospital with a cancer scare. Far from home, Asli has no one in Istanbul but Yusuf and she cannot share her fear of death with him. Meanwhile Yusuf lacks the life experience with which to comfort her and he is doubly depressed because of it. As time passes, their inability to communicate creates a wedge between them. That's when Elena enters Yusuf's life. Temporarily sharing Asli's hospital room, Elena is an attractive foreign woman who was victim of domestic abuse. Having witnessed Yusuf's compassionate demeanor at the hospital, Elena decides to confide in him when she is discharged from the hospital. She, too, has no one else to turn to in Istanbul and Yusuf agrees to help. But in a macho society, Yusuf's friendship with Elena is easily misjudged. Yusuf befriends Elena but he cannot convince his work colleagues that they are just friends helping one another. And, indeed, their relationship soon goes beyond friendship.
