Synopsis

A look at the discrimination faced by HIV/AIDS patients in China. As filmmaker Gu Changwei was making his latest romantic drama titled "Mo Shu Wai Zhua/Til Death Do Us Part," he cast two well-known lead actors and genuine Aids patients in supporting roles. Documentary filmmaker Zhao Liang documented Gu Changwei's search for these cast members, and the interactions of the cast and crew as they came face-to-face with the disease during the production. In the People's Republic of China, the disease is hushed up and people living with Aids are ostracized. The public at large knows very little about the disease and most people associate the virus with promiscuity. Initially, the cast and crew showed fear because of their ignorance of the disease. However, their attitude slowly started to change as they learned the science behind it. The ultimate goal of the film is to inform people about the disease and fight the discrimination so as to bring hope to China's 740,000 HIV-infected population.
