Synopsis

Prize fighter "Dynamite" Danny Daniels' only reason for fighting is to earn enough money to put himself through college. One day, following a spectacular victory in the ring, Dan announces that he is quitting. Racketeer Chief Crown, who knows that he can profit from Dan's future in the ring, balks at the fighter's decision to resign, and tries to lure him back into the sport by giving him a job as a collector. Dan refuses the offer, and threatens to expose Crown. Consequently, Crown vows to take revenge on the fighter, and instructs his lieutenant, Hymie, to abduct Dan's sister Nora and take her to his office at the Crescent Club. When Dan learns of Nora's abduction, he goes to the Crescent Club to find his sister. After punching Hymie and sending him flying down a staircase, Dan enters Crown's office and finds his sister the unwilling object of the racketeer's affections. Dan punches Crown, and, while trying to leave with Nora, he is accused of murdering Hymie. Dan manages to escape the club and boards a ship bound for Central America. En route, he meets Professor Gordon, a famous archaeologist, his secretary, Evelyn Hume, and his assistant, Ellsworth, who are on their way to a dangerous expedition. Eveyln is attracted Dan, and she tries to convince Gordon to take Dan with them. The expedition embarks on its trek through Guatemala without Dan, but Dan soon follows them and makes his presence known when he becomes trapped in quicksand. After being rescued by Gordon's party, Dan resumes his romance with Evelyn and joins their expedition. When the expedition is ambushed by warring natives, Gordon receives a fatal gunshot wound and, in his dying words, tells Evelyn to return to the United States with Dan and marry him. When Dan returns home, he learns that Hymie was not dead after all and that he has married Nora. No longer a fugitive, Dan introduces Evelyn to his mother and she welcomes her new daughter-in-law.
