Synopsis

Norma Jean, an innocent 15-year-old living in the Ozarks, possesses natural powers of clairvoyance. She and her brother Vance [her boyfriend according to another source] meet a rock and roll band leader, BoBo, who is attempting to establish an entertainment center in the Plastic Dome, a large circus-tent structure. Faced with disappointing crowds, BoBo persuades Norma Jean to allow him to exploit her visionary abilities. Box office receipts begin to soar, but Norma Jean is nearly driven insane in the process. After her prediction of a suicide materializes, she suffers a breakdown and is hidden by Vance, who resists the temptation to cash in on the enterprise. In another incident, a spelunker becomes trapped in a nearby cave, attracting a reporter and would-be rescuers. Meanwhile, the public clamors for Norma Jean's return. The local mayor, anxious to retain the business revenue generated by Norma Jean's presence, and BoBo, who has acquired wealth and fame as a result of the promotion, set out to bring her back but accidentally shoot her dead.
