Synopsis
Shu is a shy bachelor who works in the village's motor-repair shop. When the villagers are forced to leave due to the expansion of the local mining activities, Shu goes to the provincial capital to ask his friend for a job. While there, Shu falls in love at first sight with a deaf-mute girl named Xiaomei. On the night before their wedding, Shu is visited in his dreams by his dead father, his elder brother and his elder brother's murderer. The wedding turns out to be a complete a disaster and Xiaomei returns to live with her family. The thoughts that have long flashed through Shu's mind start to make sense to him -- he begins to make prophecies and many of them come true.
