Synopsis

Jack Dunham, a private detective for an express company, is sent to investigate the wave of stage holdups that have been terrorizing the territory. Posing as robbers, Jack and his sidekicks, Manuel and Judge, plan to flag down a stage, but find that the real robbers have beat them to it. After chasing away the bandits, Jack meets Mary Leeds, a passenger on the stage, who forestalls the trio's intended robbery by thanking them for saving her life. Mary has inherited a half-interest in a saloon from her late uncle, and after her partner Slater cheats her out of her share, Jack begins to suspect that he is behind the stage robberies. Slater tries to eliminate Jack by framing him for the murder of an express agent, but Jack, certain that Slater is responsible for the murder, escapes from the sheriff and rides to Slater's ranch, where he finds Slater and the express company's strong box. As Jack shoots it out with Slater and his gang, the sound of gunshots draws the attention of the sheriff's posse, who are in pursuit of Jack, and they ride to the ranch and arrest Slater for murder. Jack then reveals that he is working as a detective for the express company and all ends happily as Jack decides to settle down with Mary.
