Synopsis

As the civil war in Sri Lanka rages in early 2009, Tamil refugees begin streaming into India. Dhanushkodi, the Indo-Sri Lankan border town, is at the epicentre of the human rights calamity. Once ravaged by a tsunami, the town's fisherman now struggle to maintain their way of life in the face of harassment from both state police and naval authories from both Sri Lanka and India. Each morning they launch their boats out to sea and each day they are stopped, accused of being rebels, spies or smugglers. Manimekalai the filmmaker, Munusamy the fisherman, Rosemary the social worker with the Jesuit Christian Refugee Services and Soori, a half-wit Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee, all try to maintain their sanity as things worsen around them.
