Synopsis
On October 1971, Michel Debre, the Minister of Defence, decided to enlarge the military camp of the Larzac with no prior consultation with the local farmers. His intention was to enlarge the military camp from 3.000 to 14.000 hectares. He was unprepared that his decision would set off a wave of protests. This political struggle lasted for ten years until the 1981 presidential elections when France chose a left wing president, François Mitterrand, for the first time in this regime.
