Synopsis
A celebration of the life and work of Japanese comics artist Yoshihiro Tatsumi. In post-war occupied Japan, young Tatsumi's passion for comics becomes a means of supporting his family. His passion for comics is further fueled after meeting his idol, famous Disneyesque animator Osamu Tezuka. Despite his steady success, Tatsumi begins to question why comics should only cater to children. In response to this line of query, in 1957, Tatsumi redefines the manga landscape by developing an alternative genre for adults that comes to be known as "gekiga."
