Synopsis

Rhee Jung-Nim and her husband Jung Man-il live on the outskirts of Pyonyang in North Korea. Their apartment is rather ordinary with the only adornment being the portraits of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jung-il and a radio that blares out pop music. Jung Man-il, who travels back and forth between China and North Korea on business, gets arrested by the North Korean security forces for possessing foreign products and pornography. His wife barely escapes to South Korea before his arrest. Once there, Jung-Nim does all she can to forget the traumatic experience of her escape, trying to begin a new life. But she cannot forget her husband who languishes in a prison somewhere in North Korea. The longer she is separated from him, the more she misses him until one day she hears from him again.
