Synopsis
1953. Nena, a girl from southern Italy, has to travel far from home to get her first job as a teacher. She is sad because she is having a serious love affair with someone from her village: a young upper-middle class man who seems to feel very strongly about her. They promise that nothing will change between them. They only have to deal with this situation until June and then she can ask for a transfer. Nena leaves for her new job and is curious about what is in store for her. What she finds is completely different from what she imagined--a school isolated on a high mountain, wild children, people she has nothing in common with, and a hostile environment. Nena sticks it out because Francesco loves her for her courage. However, one cold February day everything goes wrong and everything seems lost forever.
